From 1990 through 2001, Ron served as the volunteer editor of Bottom Board, the CHA Newsletter. He has been known as the Ambassador of Handball (Emeritus) at the Denver Downtown YMCA and ran shuttles and tournaments at that club until it underwent a renovation that resulted in the loss of all handball courts. Not to be completely undone by this event, Ron (AKA "the rusty gate") organized a group of over 30 players and negotiated a low cost membership deal for handball players at the Cherry Creek Sporting Club. Besides being a member of the CHA Board of Directors, he is one of the Traveling League Team captains and organizes handball shuttles at his club along with one-day "Montana Rules" doubles events that keep everyone sore from playing. When asked why he doesn't do more for our sport, his response is "I'd really like to, but there are only 39 hours in a day, or I would."
Ron almost always has a supply of fresh balls, gloves, and even eye-guards for sale (for very nearly his cost) in his locker at the club. Sometimes he makes enough to cover the shipping!
